‘Help kids believe they have a purpose in this world’

-

Going through my phone messages recently, I was horrified to find how low the society has fallen. Was disturbed to see the disaster/catastrophe we have created.

The fact that over a hundred teenagers ended their lives because someone thought they were a ‘biological waste’ is a proof enough that we have failed miserably to create an ideal society.

Before people go on to rant about how social media has deeply affected them, let me say that it was not the game (Blue Whale) which killed those kids, it’s the circumstances, their surroundings that forced them to take their lives.

These circumstances will not change unless we change ourselves. Problems like body shaming, bullying, ragging and the social hierarchy still exist in our society.

These problems are capable of crushing a child’s self esteem, leading children to believe that they have no purpose in life.

It’s high time we realise that the problems which we are facing today are real and can lead to worse consequences.

The solution lies not in confiscating of phones or banning social media, but in creating an open and exultant environment that would help the kids in believing that they have a purpose in this world, an environment that does not provoke them to express negative emotions, but one which teaches them how to channelise those emotions into positive energy and increased productivity.
