FARIDABAD: The Faridabad Police Saturday night arrested Vishwas Pandey, accused in the murder of Arindam Pal, a senior manager at Tata Steel Processing and Distribution Limited (TSPDL), who was shot dead Friday afternoon.

Pandey was arrested from Sainik Colony on FaridabadGurgaon Road, said Vimal Kumar, in-charge, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Sector 17. “He had planned to leave the country between November 11 and November 15 and was to join a company in Singapore, but we nabbed him before that. We have recovered the weapon used in the crime and 18 rounds from him,” Kumar said.

The accused was produced before a court Sunday which remanded him to three days police custody. Investigators said that during the course of interrogation, the accused confessed that he purchased pistol for ₹90,000 and three magazines from Allahabad.

“The accused had a grouse against the victim and three other employees whom he held responsible for getting him sacked from the company. He wanted to kill all four people,” the police said.

Pandey told interrogators that he fired two rounds in the air on Diwali as practice and fired five rounds on Arindam Pal on November 9, and fled the spot.

“He had applied for a visa in Chandigarh,” the police said.

Pandey, 32, was discharged of his services at TSPDL, where he had been working from 2015, in August 2018.

A case in matter was registered in Mujesar police station and the victim’s post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday and his body sent to Kolkata for the last rites thereafter.
