GURUGRAM: The Haryana government is yet to get an approval from the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the inauguration of Dwarka Expressway, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway, Haryana Skill Development University and the Metro link between Ballabhgarh and Mujesar on November 19. Khattar said they had requested the PM to inaugurate Dwarka Expressway too, but the PMO is yet to approve the request.

“A proposal with nine projects was sent to the Centre and we have received approval for three of them till now,” Khattar said while addressing a press conference at Haryana CSR summit.

Later, the CM took stock of work at KMP expressway. He also went to Jhanjrola road in Sultanpur village where the proposed ‘Jan Vikas rally’ will be held on November 19. The PM will address the rally.

Dwarka Expressway, officially known as the Northern Peripheral Road, is being built as a bypass of NH8 that cuts through Gurugram, will connect Shiv Murti on Delhi-gurugram Expressway with Kherki Daula, also on the same highway, via Dwarka, Bijwasan and New Palam Vihar. It was expected to be completed in 2010 but the project was delayed due to petitions and protests by land owners, who demanded alternative plots and compensation.
