4 luxury cars recovered from interstate gang
NEW DELHI : The Delhi Police on Sunday said they had arrested three members of an interstate gang that was involved in stealing luxury cars from Delhi-ncr and selling them in Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and other states.
Four stolen cars, including two Creta and a Fortuner, and equipment used in breaking locks of vehicles were recovered from them.
Deputy commissioner of police (west) Monika Bhardwaj said that six cases of vehicle thefts reported from west Delhi areas were solved with the arrest of Mohammad Arif, 22, Mohammad Mobin alias Kallu, 21, and Mohammad Amir, 23, all from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.
DCP Bhardwaj said that two Creta cars were stolen from areas under the territorial jurisdiction of the Kirti Nagar police station in the early hours of November 11.
A team was formed to nab the thieves and recover the stolen cars. The team obtained the details of the GPS (Global Positioning System) of one of the stolen cars from its manufacturing company.
“The team members established the GPS location of the car and began following it. They followed the vehicle for about 400 kilometres and finally intercepted it in Aurangabad near Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The car was found at a dump yard cum workshop that was raided and three men were caught along with the stolen Creta,” Bhardwaj said.
The interrogation of the three men led to the recovery of other stolen vehicles, the police maintained.
