Gymnasts clinch two bronze in World Cup

NEWDELHI: Indian gymnasts won two bronze medals in the men’s and women’s group events of the FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup in Baku.

Prins Aris, Siddhesh Bhosle, Rushikesh More and Rejilesh Suribabu finished third after scoring 20.560 in the two-day event to bag the bronze medal at the National Gymnastics Arena on November 18. The Indian women’s trio of Ayushi Ghodeswar, Prachi Parkhi and Mrunmayi Walde also bagged a bronze in the group after scoring 18.200.

ANJUM, MEHULI SHINE

THIRUVANAN­THAPURAM: Anjum Moudgil and Mehuli Ghosh continued their golden run in the women’s air rifle events at the 62nd National Shooting Championsh­ip Competitio­ns (NSCC) in Trivandrum on Tuesday.

Anjum won her third gold of the nationals on Tuesday, partnering Arjun Babuta to help Punjab win the 10m air rifle mixed team event. Mehuli won her fifth and sixth gold medals in the competitio­n by annexing the junior and youth mixed team titles.

INDIAN MASTERS POLO

NEWDELHI: Rajnigandh­a Achievers beat Jindal Panther/garcha Lions 8-7 and Sona Polo beat Palermo Polo by 6-5 in the Indian Masters Polo on Tuesday.

THALAIVAS TRIUMPH

AHMEDABAD: Tamil Thalaivas produced a solid all-round performanc­e to beat Telugu Titans 27-23 in the southern derby of Pro Kabaddi Season 6. This was Tamil Thalaivas first win over Telugu Titans i n the Pro Kabaddi League. Ajay Thakur scored 8 points for Thalaivas and Manjeet Chhillar chipped in with three crucial tackle points. Rahul Chaudhari scored 8 points but it was Titans defence that let them down as they scored just seven tackle points.

VIJENDER’S NEW DEAL

LOS ANGLES: Indian boxing star Vijender Singh has signed a multi-year deal with legendary promoter Bob Arum’s company Top Rank, paving the way for his American debut next year after an unbeaten profession­al run in India and England.
