NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly abducted from outside Delhi’s Indraprastha Millennium Park by an unidentified man on Friday afternoon , who reportedly later attacked her with a glass bottle when she resisted his molestation attempt, police said.

The woman was later allegedly thrown out of the moving vehicle near UP Gate in Ghaziabad.

The seriously injured woman then somehow managed to reach a checkpost booth of Uttar Pradesh police at the Delhi-up border and narrate her ordeal.

The personnel their admitted rushed her to a nearby private hospital where she was was treated and later discharged.

Deputy commissioner of police (southeast) Chinmoy Biswal said a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means under Section 326 of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Sunlight Colony police station on the woman’s initial statement.

“We are adding molestation and abduction charges in the FIR. Eight teams have been formed to identify and nab the accused,” said DCP Biswal, adding the woman is married and works as a contractual sanitation worker.

A police officer, associated with the case, said around 2am on Saturday, they received an information from a private hospital in Vaishali, Ghaziabad, regarding a woman from east Delhi who was admitted there with multiple injuries. Since the woman was unfit for statement, a case under Section 326 of IPC was registered on the basis of facts available with the police. After the woman was declared fit and discharged from the hospital on Saturday , police recorded her statement. She told police that on Friday afternoon the incident took place when she had gone to give food to her sister, who was working as an attendant of a public toilet in Millennium Park.
