NOIDA: A 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her landlord’s brother-in-law at gunpoint at her house in Sector 121 on Sunday afternoon. A medical examination has been ordered for the woman to ascertain sexual assault. The accused is on the run, police said.

According to police, the incident took place around 2pm Sunday. Rahul (25) allegedly entered the house when the woman was alone at home and raped her at gunpoint.

“The woman in her statement said she was alone at home at the time of the incident. She was working in the kitchen and the main door of the house was open. The accused came in, tied her mouth and hands with a saree and raped her at gunpoint,” Akhilesh Tripathi, station house officer, Phase 3 police station, said.

Police said that after the assault, the accused left the woman tied up on the floor and when her husband came back home in the evening, he found her bound and gagged.

The couple approached the police on Monday and registered a case of rape.

Police said the accused is a resident of the same village and is the brother-in-law of the couple’s landlord. Originally from Badayu, the couple got married earlier this year and moved into the rented accommodation a few months ago. The husband works for a private company in Sector 68, police said.

A case of rape under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Phase 3 police station.

“The woman has been sent for a medical examination. Rahul is currently on the run and a police team is on his lookout. We hope to nab him soon,” the SHO said.
