Glamour, melody, and rhythm, enlivened the celebration of the Annual Day of
St. Thomas’ School, Mandir Marg at Helen
Jerwood auditorium. The Chief Guest was Raj Kishore Tiwari, Political Editor, ABP and the Guest of Honour was Vinita Shankar, Deputy Director, Education. It was graced by the school chairman, Rt. Rev. Warris K. Masih and distinguished PTA members. An array of characters from English literature came alive and entertained the guests. The programme started with an invocation song and lamp lighting by the guests accompanied by the Principal A. Amos and the Manager C. Manoharan. Communique 2018 – presented by the Principal showcased the journey towards excellence traversed by the school. Vinita Shankar said that the accolades won by the students were a testimony to the unstinting hard work of all involved in the process of the education of the child – the student, the teacher and the parents. Raj Kishore Tiwari spoke of the completeness of the Principal’s report and complimented her on the holistic ambience of the school. Prizes were given to the merit holders of all classes. 4 teachers and 6 establishment staff were honoured for 25 years of dedicated service. The hilarious Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ and a Hindi play ‘Satyamave Jayate’ kept the audience entertained. The programme came to a fitting close with a grand finale of all the participants coming together, singing in unison ‘Vaishnav Jana to’.

that the jury of World Book of Records, U.K. included the school under honor category for Observing International Day of People with Disability with the strength of 2600 students accompanied by 60 special students from Nai Disha Special School, Tamanna Special School and School of Hope. Presenting the Certificate of Commendation, Dr. Sonia Rawat, President, World Book of Records applauded the school’s efforts to promote the rights, dignity and wellbeing of persons with disabilities. This event aimed to promote the UN theme “Empowering Persons with Disability and ensuring inclusiveness and Equality” through an Assembly which was graced by Dr. Pramit Rastogi, Eminent Child Psychiatrist and Educator, Child First. A medley of songs serenaded by Surbhi Arya, a differently abled student of the school enthralled one and all. Dr. Rastogi urged the students to create a safe environment of Inclusion and accept people with disability wholeheartedly. Students participated in a wide array of activities ranging from card making to slogan writing. The highlight of the day was coming together of the students and special children from the partner schools on the field to form a ‘Wave of Inclusion’ symbolic of harmony, acceptance, compassion and consideration.
Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar
organised their annual leadership summit, ‘Lead On!’ The heads of the Student Councils of nearly 30 schools of Delhi gathered to participate in activities aimed at inculcating qualities of leadership in them. The day included a plethora of activities, including keynote speeches by two notable personalities: Subramanian Swamy, the noted Indian economist, statistician, politician and member of the Rajya Sabha, and Bollywood actor turned politician, Shatrughan Sinha.
Their keynote speeches, in which they spoke about aspects of a leader, different dimensions of intelligence, their own personal lives, achievements and struggles, were the highlights of the day. Each speech was followed by a question and answer session, in which the students got an opportunity to interact with these two personalities.
The students participated in various activities which made them introspect, debate and take roles of leadership among themselves.
Lead On! 2018 concluded with a fun yet challenging “treasure hunt” around the school. All the participants gave an extremely positive feedback and exuberant praise about the intensive learning experience.
