AAP to start phase-2 of LS campaign on Dec 14

-

NEWDELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said it will start the next phase of campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from December 14.

The decision was taken at a meeting supervised by party convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at his residence on Tuesday after results of assembly elections of five states were announced.

“The results have shown that people have started rejecting BJP. We know people of Delhi are with AAP. We will contest Lok Sabha elections on all seven seats of Delhi and defeat BJP,” said Gopal Rai, AAP minister and Delhi unit convenor. The meeting was attended by ministers, party in-charges for Lok Sabha seats, MLAS, councillors and the party’s district presidents.

The AAP was among the first political parties in Delhi to sound the poll bugle on October 15 with Kejriwal urging volunteers, supporters and people to support and give donations to the party for the elections.

“The next phase of our door-todoor campaign will start from December 14. Local leaders and party workers will start canvassing for the Lok Sabha polls,” Rai said.

The AAP has already named its in-charges for six Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi, who will likely to be official candidates of the party in the next year’s elections. In 2014, the AAP fielded candidates on all seven seats in Delhi but none of them could secure a win. All Lok Sabha seats in the capital were won by BJP candidates.
