GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad development authority (GDA) said Tuesday they have made three services — allotment of houses in its housing schemes, mutation and conversion of leasehold properties into freehold — completely online. Now, the services will only be available through the online portal https://janhit.upda.in, developed by the UP housing and urban planning department.

“Applicants can share their details and even submit fees or charges online after creating an account. The refunds will be credited to the applicant’s bank account directly. The procedure will help reduce time lost in publishing of brochures, coordinating with banks and following up on payments etc. From now, brochures will not be printed or distributed as the authority incurs a lot of cost on it,” GDA vice-chairperson Kanchan Verma, said.

She added,“for applicants from rural areas and others who are not so internet savvy, we have decided that the application services will be provided through government’s common service centres (CSC). The CSCS will charge nominal fees like other services”.

GDA officials said the online services will also help get rid of middlemen who dupe applicants and mint money in lieu of providing services. NEWDELHI: A former senior police officer, a retired bureaucrat and a city advocate have been appointed as members of the Delhi government’s first police complaint authority.

Notified by the state government in January this year, the authority will deal with complaints against Delhi police personnel over issues such as custodial death, rape, extortion, corruption or abuse of power.

Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal appointed retired IPS officer P Kamraj, former IAS Nutan Guwa Biswas and advocate Tinu Bajwa.

Kamraj, who retired last year, has served as the special commissioner of law and order (south) in Delhi and has worked in different ranges and crime branch unit as the joint commis- sioner.

Nutan, a 1983-batch IAS officer, was the chairperson of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).

She was the second woman chairman of IWAI.

Before her IWAI stint, she was the additional secretary in the ministry of women and child development. Bajwa is a practising advocate since 1993.
