1 dead, 7 injured as tyre of SUV bursts on Yamuna e-way

GREATER NOIDA: One person was killed and seven others injured on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida after the tyre of the Innova they were travelling in burst and vehicle hit the railing of the expressway on Monday evening .

The accident took place around 3.45pm. A family of eight, including four children and two women, were travelling towards Aligarh. The family, from Aligarh, was returning after attending a wedding in Ghaziabad, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Jagpal Singh (35), of Jattari in Aligarh, who driving the car, police said.

According to police and eyewitness­es, the left front tyre of the speeding vehicle burst and it resulted in the driver losing control of the vehicle and ramming the left side railing on the stretch of the Yamuna E-waynear Galgotia University.

“We received informatio­n around 3.50pm that an accident has taken place. A team was sent to the spot and all injured persons were shifted to Kailash Hospital at Pari Chowk. One person was declared dead on arrival while another was critically injured. The remaining six injured, including four children aged below 10 years and two women, are stable. The vehicle has been removed from the spot,” Rajpal Singh Tomar, SHO, Dankaur police station, said.

“Jagpal was brought around 4.10pm and he had lost a lot of blood. His face was completely smashed. He was declared dead on arrival. Another person, Anuj Singh, has been admitted to the ICU,” a representa­tive of Kailash Hospital said.

Police have not registered any case in the matter. “We have sent the body for postmortem and the report is awaited,” Tomar said.
