According to police, the arrested men have been identified as Sonu, who worked as a sweeper at the outlet, and his friend Banty. The other two accused — Sachin alias Shooter and Sumit alias Vicky — are members of the gang, police said.

During the early hours on Monday, employees of the pizza outlet reported t hat t hree unknown men barged into the store on main Rohtak Road in Nangloi and robbed about ₹1.5 lakh at gunpoint.

Deputy commissioner of police (outer) Seju P Kuruvilla said call details of the outlet’s employees were obtained and activities of Sonu appeared suspicious. “His mobile phone was checked and it was found that he had deleted the call history. He was then questioned, during which he admitted that his friend Banty (known only by his first name), along with two others, Sachin and Sumit, had committed the robbery. He had helped them,” the DCP said.

Sonu told police that when he and other three employees of the outlet were winding up after closing the operations for the day, he facilitated the entry of his three aides. “He said all four of them then held the three outlet employees hostage at gunpoint to rob the money from the safe at the cash counter and fled the store,” the police said.

Kuruvilla said after questioning Sonu, the police team laid a trap and arrested Banty from Nangloi. “On his revelation, ₹36,000 of the robbed cash was recovered. Banty also disclosed whereabouts of Sachin and Sumit. Further raids were conducted and both were arrested while they were planning to go to Manali to celebrate the New Year’s Eve,” Kuruvilla said.
