NEW DELHI: Police on Saturday morning apprehended three minors for allegedly murdering a 14-year-old boy in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat area a day earlier.the apprehended minors were later sent to a correctional home.

A police officer associated with the case said that one of the apprehended minors, a 16-yearold, had been angry over the victim’s ‘friendship’ with a girl.

“The boy had warned the victim several times to stay away from the girl,” said the officer. “A few days ago, the boy had seen him talking to the girl. It left him enraged and he discussed the matter with two of his friends, who promised him to help him. The minor planned to kill the teenager and his two friends, both minors, agreed to be the part of the plan.”

The incident took place when the victim was sitting around a bonfire with his friends in Tali Basti area, said police.

The three minors allegedly lured the 14-year-old to a nearby lane by saying that they wanted to discuss and sort out their differences.

The three minors allegedly overpowered him and began attacking him with knives and inflicted almost a dozen stab wounds. When the teenager screamed for help and some locals rushed for help, the three boys threw away their knives and fled, the police said.

A local resident called the police control room and informed them about the crime. The injured boy’s family members were also informed.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police said the teenager’s family members work in different factories in Anand Parbat area.

The attackers were apprehended from various places in central Delhi by early Saturday morning. They were produced before the juvenile justice board that sent them to the correction home.

A case of murder was registered against them at the Anand Parbat police station. The body of the minor boy was handed over to his family after the autopsy, said the police.
