2 held with ₹92L in foreign notes

NEWDELHI: A 67-year-old woman and a man have been nabbed from Delhi airport for possessing foreign currencies worth over ₹92 lakh illegally, officials said on Saturday.

CISF officials said that the two passengers were bound for Dubai.

CISF personnel at the Indira Gandhi Internatio­nal (IGI) Airport detected some cash in the hand baggage of the woman identified as SR Verma (67) and then with her male companion, RK Verma’s bag on Friday.

“The foreign currencies recovered is worth ₹92,87,070 and that includes $29,800, 70,350 euros and

77, 040 dirhams.

“The two passengers have been handed over to customs officials for further probe about the source of the high volume of foreign currencies,” a senior CISF official said.
