NEWDELHI: A 22-year-old man was killed after a group of unidentified men fired five rounds at him in outer Delhi’s Sultanpur Dabas on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place a week after a financer, from the same village, was shot dead in his car in Rohini. Police are probing links between the two deaths .

According to police, around 1 pm, Karan alias Monu received a call from an unknown number and the caller had asked him to come to a nearby farm. Locals told the police that they heard gun shots and rushed to the spot where they found Monu lying injured.“witnesses said they also saw a few men fleeing in a Scorpio car. The vehicle did not have a number plate. Locals alerted the Monu’s family and police was called. He was rushed to a Maharishi Valmiki hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead,” said a police officer.

Police said preliminary medical examination revealed that Monu was shot from a close range. “It looks like a case of personal enmity. His valuables were not missing. However, his family members have said that he did not have a feud with anyone. CCTV footages are being checked to trace the culprits. We are trying to check if the last week’s murder at Rohini has any links with Monu’s murder,” the officer said.

DCP (outer-north) Gaurav Sharma said a case of murder has been registered and efforts to identify the culprits are underway.

Police said that Monu’s father is a former head of the village. Monu’s family members staged a protest with his body and blocked the roads in the area on Saturday. The protest caused disruption in traffic and police personnel had to be deployed to control the unres.
