KATRA (J&K): Delhi defeated Jammu and Kashmir 2-0 in a Santosh Trophy (North Zone) Group B match, with Tushar Chaudhary opening the account and Jammu and Kashmir scoring a self-goal. Chandigarh beat Uttarakhan­d 4-2 with Amit Kumar (2), Ravinder Singh and Gaurav Negi (1 each) on target. Chirag Negi scored both the goals for Uttarakhan­d.

RAVI RATHORE SHINES

NEW DELHI: Ravi Rathore scored eight goals as 61 Cavalry defeated APRC 16-6 ½ in a league match of the Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup polo tournament here on Wednesday.

In other league matches, LA Pegasus Polo thrashed Horse & Wagon 8-4 and Rajnigandh­a Achievers crushed Sona Polo 10-5 with Matthew Philip Perry scoring eight goals.

CALICUT UNBEATEN

KOCHI: Calicut Heroes maintained their unbeaten run in the Pro Volleyball League (PVL), defeating Ahmedabad Defenders 4-1 here on Wednesday. Skipper Jerome Vinith was the leading scorer for Calicut with 17 points (14 spikes, one block and a super serve). Ahmedabad’s highest scorer was Novica Bjelica who scored eight points (five spikes and three blocks).

RAILWAYS IN QUARTERS

HISAR: Defending champions Railways will face Madhya Pradesh Academy in the quarter-final of the women’s senior national hockey championsh­ips. On Wednesday, Railways beat Coorg 22-0 while Madhya Pradesh Academy beat Chhattisga­rh 9-1. The other quarter-finals will pit Jharkhand against Haryana, Madhya Pradesh versus Karnataka and Maharashtr­a against Punjab.

LUCKNOW: The India A women’s hockey team defeated France A 2-0 in the fourth and final match on Wednesday to register their third straight win. Jyoti (26th) and Gagandeep Kaur (32nd) scored two quick goals to wrap up a comfortabl­e win for the hosts.
