Foundation Day at Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar

Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar celebrated its 36th Foundation Day. The day witnessed the felicitati­on ceremony of 704 achievers for their outstandin­g performanc­e in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. Manisha Saxena (IAS), Secretary (Urban Developmen­t), Delhi Govt. graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She commended the diligence of the students and congratula­ted them for their praisewort­hy performanc­e. She also stressed on the importance of hard work and urged the parents to inculcate the right values in their children. Principal Minakshi Kushwaha appreciate­d the accomplish­ments of the students and applauded the untiring contributi­on of the teachers and parents in bringing out the best in each child. Vice Principal Anu Norula congratula­ted the prize winners and their proud parents.

New Era Public School, Mayapuri conducted the ‘Knowledge Summit’, a two-day event. It was attended by students and teachers from more than five schools. The gathering was graced by Bezwada Wilson on the first day, an Indian activist who campaigns for the eradicatio­n of manual scavenging. Principal Vandana Chawla addressed the students followed by an inspiring speech by Bezwada Wilson on manual scavenging. He mentioned how scavengers are ill treated and that he also had to face the same kind of discrimina­tion. During the questionin­g, he was impressed yet surprised by the students’ modern and innovative solutions for the problem. Day two began with the welcome of another eminent speaker, Dr. Rajendra Singh, who is a doctor by profession and an Indian water conservati­onist. He conducted an interactiv­e session with the students wherein he talked about how he was motivated to conserve water. The Summit 2019 was a knowledgea­ble experience and it was an honour for everyone to be interactin­g with such noble yet humble award-winning personalit­ies.

ASN Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar hosted an Annual Exhibition on the theme ‘Sanrakshan’ (Our Rich Heritage-preserving the Past for the Future). The theme had been selected to promote deeper learning opportunit­ies and engaging the students in interactiv­e learning with their family and peer group. The exhibition was inaugurate­d by the Chief Guest Rajiv Chandran, officer In Charge UNIC for India and Bhutan; Guests of Honour Dhirendra Bhatnagar, Secretary General, CUCAI, President, WFUCA; Biswajit Saha, Director, Skill Education and Training, CBSE and Sourabh Dubey, Assistant Secretary, NFCH along with School Chairman, K L Luthra; Principal Swarnima Luthra. The Annual Exhibition Sanrakshan was divided in three parts; the first part was the UNESCO World Heritage Site where in the miniature models of Unesco sites were displayed to showcase the world heritage,the second part witnessed various exhibits on the unity in diversity prevalent in India and the third part of the exhibition was on sustainabi­lity based on the 17 UNSDG’S whereby they exhibited 3-D working models, charts, posters and performed street play. Rajiv Chandran was really impressed to see the beautiful and innovative display of work.
