nNEWDELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) relief committee headed by Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, distributed relief material and cash to riot victims in north-east Delhi’s Khajoori Khas.

Members of the relief committee met the family of murdered Intelligence Bureau official Ankit Sharma and gave them interim financial assistance.

Sharma’s body was found in a drain in north-east Delhi’s Chand Bagh during the recent violence.

North-east Delhi witnessed massive anti-caa violence that snowballed into communal riots from February 23.

Talking to mediapersons after meeting riot victims, Tiwari said rioters had not only caused damage to the life and property but also shamed humanity and it will take time to heal.

“Violence does not solve any problem but it creates many more…it is a conspiracy to split the society. The people of our country always rise to such occasion to unite the society, hatred has been defeated from time to time,” he said.

Tiwari was accompanied by Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal, leader of opposition (LOP) Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Karawal Nagar MLA Mohan Singh Bisht, Ghonda MLA Ajay Mahawar and Delhi BJP vice president Yogita Singh.

Chahal said relief material was distributed to about 200 riot victims at KSB School and gave them cash assistance of Rs 5,000 each.

He said that members of the relief committee will provide ration as interim assistance to the riot victims in the days to come.

LOP Bidhuri said in this hour of crisis, the Delhi government, non-government organizations and political parties should forget their differences and work in unison to heal the wounds of the society besides working for the rehabilitation of the victims and the reconstructions of their houses.
