Speak for India: Zonal rounds begin with a slew of talented debaters at Gargi College
graduation, I was at a hunt for opportunities where i could express my opinion on specific topics. ‘Speak For India’ organised by Federal bank and Hindustan Times gave people like us a platform to show our expertise in any language we want. We feel great that our talent is actually being acknowledged and we are actually getting to discuss stuff and look at different perspective of a same situation. We got to listen to such great speakers and were blessed to get such a great jury who is pinpointing every word. All of the things were calibrated really well.” Said Kripal Mishra, a participant from Ramanujan College
Vimal Narula, retired senior teacher with Delhi Education Department and Kamal Gandhi, Manager, North Delhi, Federal Bank as part of the jury, scored the participants on three parameters, substance and delivery of their speech along with their refutes.
Qualifying students from the zonal rounds shall move on to the semi-final and final rounds of the competition.
Getting a step closer to the semi-final stage, participant Divyanshi Pandey from Gargi college said, “It was my first debate at zonal level and the thing I liked the best was the way it was organised. Giving 2 minutes to put forward my views and 1 minute to counter my opponent made it very effortless and kept the debate smooth. Upholding the academic many intellectual talks and heated discussions took place. My opponents explained their side and gave me a chance to know both the sides of the topic given and hence, it was very a different as well as a pleasant experience overall.”
Emcee Ashish Thakur moderated the debates and also hosted the competition. To get the results of the audition rounds of the competition, information of future zonal rounds and other updates, log on to www.speakforindiadelhi.com
