HOW TO DISINFECT YOUR HOME
Caution: Wear disposable gloves to clean and disinfect
CLEAN SURFACES USING SOAP AND WATER:
Clean frequently touched surfaces regularly. Such surfaces include tables, doorknobs, lightswitches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets and sinks
DISINFECT USING BLEACH AND ALCOHOL:
Household bleach solutions or disinfectants diluted as per instructions are effective. Apply the bleach while ensuring proper ventilation. Don’t mix cleansers. Solutions with at least 70% alcohol can also be used
CLEAN SOFT SURFACES SUCH AS CARPETED FLOOR, RUGS, AND DRAPES:
Cleanse the surface using soap and water or with other appropriate cleaning agents. Use the warmest water setting and dry items completely
WASHING CLOTHES, TOWELS AND LINENS:
Wear disposable gloves. Do not shake dirty laundry. Dirty laundry from an ill person can be washed with other people’s items.
Clean and disinfect clothes hamper. Use the warmest water setting for the wash
CLEAN HANDS OFTEN:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Always wash after removing gloves and after contact with an ill person. Use a hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available
GIVING FOOD TO AN ILL PERSON:
Stay separated; the ill person should eat (or be fed) in their room if possible. Wash dishes and utensils using gloves and hot water. Clean hands after handling used food service items
HOW TO TAKE OUT THE TRASH:
If possible, dedicate a lined trash can for the ill person. Use gloves when removing garbage bags, and handling and disposing of trash.
Wash hands afterwards
