nPATNA: A four-member team of Patna police left for Mumbai on Tuesday to interrogate Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty and four of her family members after late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father filed a case accusing them of abetment to suicide.

Rajput’s father KK Singh, a retired senior government official, lodged an FIR on July 25 against Chakraborty four of her family members and others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 120B (criminal conspiracy), 306 (abetment of suicide), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 380 (theft), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating). “Sushant’s father has made a very serious charge on Rhea and her family. He had alleged she kept Sushant away from his family and completely kept him in her possession. She was also handling his bank account. It was also reported crores of rupees were withdrawn from his bank account,” said inspector general, central range, Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Bandra flat in Mumbai on June 14. “The four member police reached Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon and is looking into the case from all angles.” Sanjay Kumar Singh added. The Patna police are looking into the statements of 38 people that were recorded before Mumbai Police.

After Rajput’s death, Chakraborty requested Union home minister Amit Shah on Twitter seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe. “I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry. I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step,” she had written.

Mumbai Police is already probing the case, and questioned several people, including filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Chakraborty and her brother did not respond to multiple requests for a comment.
