NEW DELHI: On Thursday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired a video conference with representa­tives of 28 industrial associatio­ns to discuss the revival of Delhi’s economy and ways to generate more jobs, said a senior government official. The participan­ts included Confederat­ion of Indian Industry, Badli Industrial Estate Associatio­n, Narela Industrial Complex Welfare Associatio­n, Okhla Chamber of Industries, Apex Chamber of Commerce and Bawana Manufactur­ers Welfare Associatio­n. An official said a large part of the discussion was about Rozgar Bazar – a job portal launched by the Delhi government earlier this week.

DU must provide scribes to visually impaired students: Delhi HC

NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Thursday pulled up Delhi University (DU) for its lack of preparedne­ss in providing scribes to visually impaired students and said it is the responsibi­lity of the varsity to provide scribes to such students. The court also observed that of the 1.82 lakh final-year students, who registered on the university portal for the first phase of the mock test that started on July 27, only 22,372 completed the entire exam process. DU is holding online exams in the open-book format (OBE) for final-year undergradu­ate and postgradua­te students as a one-time measure amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Plea in HC against appointing chairman of minorities’ commission

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the response of the Centre, the lieutenant governor and the Delhi government on a plea seeking that no one be appointed to the post of

Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) chairman which became vacant recently. A bench comprising chief justice DN Patel and justice Prateek Jalan issued the notice on the plea, which states that since the constituti­onal validity of the DMC Act has been challenged in the high court, no one should be appointed to head the commission till the matter is decided.
