I-day themed face masks woo netizens

With face masks becoming an indispensa­ble part of our lives, they shouldn’t hamper the enthusiasm of any celebratio­ns, right? So with Independen­ce Day (August 15), fast approachin­g, masks with patriotic themes and tagline are ruling over social media.

Shohrab Siddiqui, who’s marketing for a range of such masks on a social media platform, says, “I am getting a lot of queries. And as the day approaches, we are expecting the sales to be good. People love to flaunt such quirky things in pictures on I-day.”

Sales are good, agrees Delhibased Ankit Tewari, who has a store in east Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar. “Masks ab compulsory ho gaye hai aur har kisi ko pehnne hai. Independen­ce Day aa raha hain toh celebratio­n to hota hi hai. So we thought this was a good idea that’ll help one to be safe, yet look good. Mostly youngsters are buying and even kids, too. Unlock 3.0 has certainly brought more shoppers back on the streets. Yet, as denizens venture out to shop for their favourite outfits, most are taking more precaution­s than necessary, and are opting for boutiques and tailors, over retail outlets and showrooms.

“I always preferred to buy readymade dresses. But, in these corona times, I have become skeptical and there are various reasons. First is that others would have tried the same dress, and it could have been touched, handled by various people. So, when there came up a wedding to attend, I got all my dresses stitched,” says Sakshi Goyal from Faridabad.

Nonetheles­s, these things cannot affect patriotism of people. Thus, we are still receiving enquiries and many customer say that it’s pride of this day which matters.”

Ravi Raghav, from Faridabad, who is delivering tricolour masks across DelhiNCR, says, “Through these masks, there will be an enthusiasm in people and at this time, people in the country need it. On this Independen­ce Day, we can all prove that we are one and we can beat any virus together!” we reopened, the number of orders have increased while the footfall of clientele has decreased. Hardly any customer prefers to visit the store as most are in touch with me on Whatsapp,” says Meenu, who runs a boutique in Faridabad. She also informs that all ‘karigars’ at her store strictly wear masks and keep their equipments sanitised. “Even carry bags undergo sanitisati­on, before being handed over to the customers,” she adds.

Many clients are even using video calling apps to check for latest designs and patterns, before ordering. Kavita Gupta, owner of a Delhi-based boutique says, “People are ordering dresses through video conferenci­ng and other virtual mediums. We show them the trending patterns and designs and they book it on the call.”
