The Bihar government on Friday suspended four health officials of Jamui district over alleged irregularities in coronavirus testing with chief minister Nitish Kumar assuring stern action against the guilty.
The irregularities, which came to light in the wake of a news report, also echoed in the Rajya Sabha when the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) demanded a high-level inquiry.
The suspension orders said that a separate notification, initiating departmental proceedings against the four officers, would be issued later. “I enquired about the issue from the principal secretary, health, who told me that barring a few districts, no anomalies were detected in areas where investigations have been completed so far. The matter is being investigated seriously and there is no question of sparing the guilty,” Kumar said.
