Sipping tea is a great way to slow down and savour the little moments in life, especially in such testing times. From the classic chamomile to meditative matcha, tea is known to be immensely beneficial in promoting relaxation and overall well-being. It is even known to aid treatment of conditions such as indigestion, insomnia and pain management. And given the resurgence of Covid-19 cases, herbal brews have once again caught the attention of the masses, owing to their immunity boosting properties.

“In the unprecedented times brought upon by Covid-19, one can ward off stress and anxiety by having a cup of freshly brewed herbal tea,” suggests Shreyansh Jain, an Ayurveda expert. To this, Shikha A Sharma, celebrity nutritionist and dietitian, adds, “Ginger and lemongrass tea are very effective for our system, as they keep us hydrated and energised.”

Each concoction has its own set of benefits for our mind and body. “Lavender tea is known for its mood-stabilising properties. It helps in relieving anxiety, as well as headache and muscle pain associated with it. Sipping chamomile tea can help increase serotonin and melatonin levels in the body,” says Jain.

It is said that one of the most commonly consumed herbal teas in the world is peppermint tea. Known to treat digestive tract disorders, it also has antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant properties. Tulsi tea, on the other hand, is said to help one tackle stress better, while rosehip tea is a natural analgesic that helps boost energy levels and relieve anxiety, according to Jain.

So, it’s time to sip your way to well-being!
