30 schools to be affiliated
International Baccalaureate (IB) has over 5,000 schools worldwide, of which 195 are in India. It follows a continuous assessment mode with a focus on holistic development of children as per global practices along with academic learning having a global approach. The curriculum framework provided by IB builds critical thinking skills and nurtures curiosity of students and is reviewed regularly.
WHAT HAVE EXPERTS SAID?
Educationists have welcomed the exposure for government school students to one of the best global pedagogical practices. The programme will also connect these schools to a global network of schools providing more opportunities to children and making them more “global-minded.”
No. The IB will work as a knowledge partner with the newly-formed Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE).
Last month, the government announced that 30 of the 1,030 government schools will be affiliated to DBSE for now. Of these 30 schools, 10 will be Sarvodaya schools (from classes Nursery-8) and 20 Schools of Specialised Excellence (from classes 9-12).
While DBSE will accept affiliation requests from all government and private schools, for now the board will be focusing on 30 government schools. More than 650 teachers from these schools will be part of the professional development workshops by IB and be trained by international experts. The board will visit to these schools for evaluation and verification.
