From the new academic session, BTech in material science will be run by the department of applied mechanics at MNNIT, informed officials.
This course has been designed under the new National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. This will now be put before the board of governors (BOG), the apex decision-making body of the institute whose meeting is set to be held soon, the officials added.
The institute also proposes to submit detailed information regarding the syllabus to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) for admission in the new session.
Admission is proposed against 30 seats of this course, the officials shared.
In this course, students will study making, testing and experimenting with new and diverse materials.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning have also been included, besides business ethics and social values as additional academic activities.
