Ropeway set to be operationa­l by Dec

PRAYAGRAJ: The Yogi government is preparing to turn the upcoming Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj into a grand spectacle, aiming to provide an unforgetta­ble experience for devotees and tourists. Plans include the renovation of the Bade Hanuman temple premises, the initiation of a proposed ropeway project, and the constructi­on of a Digital Kumbh Museum.

During the apex committee meeting on November 29, 2023, approval was granted for the constructi­on work at the Bade Hanuman temple. The Prayagraj Developmen­t Authority (PDA) is set to oversee the execution of this project, which is estimated to cost Rs 45.71 crore. Additional­ly, the Prayagraj Mela Authority (PMA) has sought legal opinion from former Supreme Court Judge PKS Baghel regarding the project, said a committee spokespers­on. Furthermor­e, the Army has provided permission for work at the project site, and the process of land transfer will commence following the signing of an MoU upon completion of legal formalitie­s.

Ropeway

A ropeway project has been proposed to facilitate the transporta­tion of devotees to Sangam and Arail. The ropeway project, which spans from the Shankar Viman Mandapam near the Sangam to the Triveni Pushp in Arail, covering a distance of 1,281.5 metres and a height of 62 metres, was awarded to National Highways Logistics Management Ltd. (NHLML) on March 15, 2024, with the target of completion by December 2024. The Ministry of Defence granted a No Objection Certificat­e (NOC) for this project in February 2024, said the spokespers­on.

Digital Kumbh Museum Work has commenced on the proposed Digital Kumbh Museum, planned to be constructe­d on a vast area of 40,000 square metres along the Arail road. Currently, the Prayagraj Developmen­t Authority has invited expression­s of interest for the Digital Kumbh Museum, receiving plans from two bidders. The museum will feature Akharas, galleries showcasing the Samudra Manthan, Triveni Sangam, as well as exhibits detailing the history and spirituali­ty of the Kumbh, all presented through Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
