DEHRADUN: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the definition and culture of politics in the last 10 years as “now we are talking about changing India, progressing and developing India”.

While addressing an election rally in Mussoorie to support party candidate Tehri Lok Sabha seat candidate Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Nadda said this time, the election is of bringing in PM Modi’s resolution of a developed India by 2047.

“Ten years ago, there was udaseenta (indifference) among people for politics. The common man used to say politics won’t change anything. Now in the last 10 years, PM Modi has changed the definition and culture of politics. Now we are talking about changing India, progressing and developing India. With this resolution, we are moving ahead.”

Nadda said, “While we are talking of development and developed India, the parties belonging to INDIA bloc have different manifestos. What will they achieve? They are a group of corrupt people. However,

PM Modi has said that after June 4, action against the corrupt leaders would be intensified. Most of these opposition parties are dynastic parties.”

Taking a hit at Congress, the BJP leader said under their rule there were coal scam, Bofors scam, submarine scam, 2G and 3G scam, commonwealth scam and AgustaWestland VVIP chopper scam. “They didn’t leave land, water or air when it came to scams. In all three spheres, air water and land, there were scams,” he said.

Saying many Opposition leaders are either in jail or on bail, Nadda asked people whether they should vote for such leaders.

Talking about how India has changed under PM Modi, Nadda said, “During Covid, many foreign countries like the US, couldn’t decide whether the economy is important or humanity. They were in dilemma whether to go for lockdown or not. But in India, PM Modi decided to go for lockdown and a country of 140 crores exemplified before the whole world how to fight the pandemic”

The BJP leader further said that he has been a health minister, so he knows it took decades to get medicines for diseases like tuberculosis, tetanus, leprosy, diphtheria, and japanese fever. “But when Covid struck in 2020, in nine months India created two vaccines and ensured 220 crore booster doses to people. It was the largest vaccination drive in the world. This is changing India and we have to understand this.”

Nadda said the situation has changed in villages. He spoke about how villagers have benefited under various schemes of the BJP government like ujjwala, ayushman, jal nal yojana, swachh bharat scheme, PM gareeb anna yojana and so on. He spoke about how road connectivity has improved and made commuting easier for the villagers.

“Women in villages used to walk miles to fetch wood for fuel for kitchen hearth. Now within minutes, she switches on LPG and cooks food for the family within half an hour. This is how India has changed.”

He said for 40 years ex-servicemen fought for “one rank, one pension” but “nobody took any action on this. PM Modi brought the scheme and spent ₹1 lakh crore on the scheme including ₹ 3,500 crore on 1.26 lakh (126,000) ex-servicemen in Uttarakhand”.
