Gangster demands extortion from woman, case registered

PRAYAGRAJ : Dhumanganj police on Sunday lodged an FIR against notorious criminal and gang leader Nihal Kumar aka Bachha Pasi for demanding an extortion of Rs 5 lakh from a woman. The cash was demanded in return for permission for constructi­on on her land.

An FIR has been registered against Bachha Pasi and a woman and further investigat­ions were being carried out in this connection, police said.

In her complaint given to police, Geeta Devi of Varanasi said she purchased a plot of land at Umarpur Neewa. However, Bachha Pasi and his aide Radha Devi stopped constructi­on. Geeta gave Rs 50000 to them, but they demanded cash Rs 5 lakh for allowing constructi­on on the land. The henchmen of Bachha Pasi issued threats to Geeta Devi following which she approached police.

Station house officer (SHO) of Dhumanganj police station Vaibhav Singh said an FIR has been registered and action will soon be taken against the accused.

It is worth mentioning that in police records, Nihal Kumar aka Bachha Pasi is the leader of 15-member gang D-46. He has over two dozen cases registered at different police stations of the city, and he is also a history sheeter, informed police.

Bachha Pasi earned notoriety after his name surfaced in Kala Ghoda shootout in Mumbai in 2006. It came to fore that Bachha Pasi and Khan Mubarak carried out shootout on behest of underworld don Chhota Rajan. During crackdown against mafias in 2002, PDA demolished Bachha Pasi’s house in Dhumanganj. Bachha Pasi has been two times corporator from his area and has been associated with slain mafia politician Atiq Ahmed’s gang.
