According to a police officer, the accident occurred on DelhiMumbai expressway under the Bonli police station jurisdiction when the canter truck was taking a U-turn.

“The incident took place when seven members of a family, all resident of Sikar district, were on the way to visit a temple in Sawai Madhopur in their Maruti Suzuki Eeco,” Bonli police station sub-inspector Dharmpal Singh said.

“The accident took place when the car rammed into the truck while it was taking a U turn along the Banas river in Sawai Madhopur district at around 8am. After the accident, the truck driver fled the spot,” the sub-inspector said.

Upon receiving an information about the accident, a team from the Bonli police station reached the spot and rushed the injured to a nearby community health centre.

While the doctors declared six people dead, two children who had sustained critical injuries, were referred to a bigger health centre in Jaipur, Singh added.
