The four who proposed PM Modi’s candidature
VARANASI : When Prime Minister Narendra Modi filed his nomination from the Varanasi seat on Tuesday, people were also excited to know about his four proposers. Of them, Pt Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid is a Brahmin known for determining the auspicious time for the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, while Baijnath Patel is an old RSS volunteer belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) community. The other one Lalchand Kushwaha also belongs to the OBC community and Sanjay Sonkar is a Dalit.
“By choosing a Brahmin, two OBCs and one Dalit as the PM’s proposers, BJP leadership has tried to give a message that its mission is Sabaka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” said political analyst Prof Kaushal Kishore Mishra. Prof Mishra, who has taught political science at BHU for over threeand-a-half-decades, said, “Through this team of proposers, the BJP has reaffirmed that it takes care of all.” One of the PM’s proposers Lalchand Kushwaha said, “I am a grassrootlevel worker of the party. I am thankful to PM Modi and BJP for giving me this opportunity. The party trusted me...it is really a great day for me.”
The other proposer Sanjay Sonkar, who has been associated with the BJP for over a decadeand-a-half, said, “I am thankful to the BJP leadership and the PM. Giving me this opportunity reflects Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas motto of the party. I cannot express my joy in words.”
