Motherhood is priority for Ayesha, work can wait

Actor Ayesha Takia (right), who has remained away from the silver screen for over three years, doesn’t regret a single moment of absence. The actor says that she was taking care of her boy,

Mikail Azmi (inset), who is 3 years old now. She says the experience of bringing him up has been amazing so far. “I have thoroughly enjoyed it. For all these years that I was away, I was extremely happy to give him all my time and attention while being a fulltime and hands-on mom. I don’t think anything else can replace this feeling and the lovely experience of being with Mikhail every single day.”

Ayesha has returned to screen with a music video and plans to continue working with a few other projects lined-up including opening a vegan restaurant and launching a fashion line soon. She’s clear that nothing takes over her son’s time. “He is my priority and whatever work I do, I want people to understand and know that my working hours will be different and my son has to be accommodated first. So, I make sure that only when these conditions are met, I take up something or else I would just skip. I have to spend time with my son and if that can’t be taken care of, then work can wait.”

Asked about people who say that life and career priorities change for female stars, once they become mothers, Ayesha says each person’s journey is different and it’s unfair to compare. “Each actor is different and not everyone is looking for the same thing,” she adds.
