7 STYLE TRENDS FROM NYFW
From technical jackets to Cuban collars —here’s what ruled the men’s runway at the recently concluded New York Fashion Week
LOOSE TROUSERS
Easy, relaxed fits by designers like Willy Chavarria and Todd Snyder were spotted on the ramp. The loose trousers also featured pleats and were rolled up to give a sneak peek at the socks.
VELVETS
Velvets are here to stay. Men took to the runway wearing these fabrics in bright colours. Palmiers du Mal’s collection had a lot of it and this seems to be the new lounge-wear trend that men will follow in the coming season.
STRIPES
Todd Snyder’s collection had a lot of stripes in the form of suits, shorts and jackets. The pinstripes make a cool style statement, and is also a safe territory for men who want to look fashionable yet not go over the top.
COLOUR-BLOCKING
Designer Bumsuk Choi’s collection showcased a lot of colour-blocking with neutral and bold colours. The other designers who used colour-blocking were Ovadia & Sons and Raf Simons.
CUBAN COLLAR
The boxy, short-sleeved cotton shirts seemed to be the runway favourite. These shirts were teamed with pleated pants at Boss’s show. So this leaves us wondering whether the 1950s trend of Cuban collar shirt is now back in vogue.
TECHNICAL JACKETS
Now that’s how you beat the monsoon— in style! This look was seen on the runway during the Raf Simons, Boss and Ovadia & Sons’ shows.
BOLD PATTERNS
The bolder, the better. These patterns were seen everywhere, from jackets, shirts to trousers. The brand Bode sported these bold prints, which evoked a sense of androgyny.
