When memories of Jammu came alive in the city
Abalmy Friday evening i the Capital saw the launch of Harbans Singh’s book, Karan Singh Jammu & Kashmir 1949-196 The day also happened to bee Dr Karan Singh’s birthday The book chronicles the history of Jammu & Kashmm during the given period, and excerpts were shared.
Former Prime Minister o India, Dr Manmohan Singn , said at the launch of the book: “It is an important book on an important subject. The troubled history of Jammu & Kashmir is well known to all of us. Dr Karan Singh played an important role in shaping the events and history of Jammu & Kashmir in its multifarious aspects.”
At the event, Dr Karan Singh shared an anecdote about Dr Manmohan Singh, saying, “I was sadr-e-riyasat (governor) and he was a topper at the Hoshiarpur Degree College, and I had the pleasure of visiting there and giving him the gold medal.” Members of erstwhile royal families were present at the do, along with diplomats and politicians.
