An ode to the power of women
Saluting female prowess, this year’s International Women’s Day saw many events dedicated to it. From exhibitions to cultural performances, the celebrations were varied.
One such event in the Capital, Shakti Parva, saw the presence of Smriti Irani, minister of textiles, and information and broadcasting. Bharatanatyam exponent Prathibha Prahlad choreographed Vande Mataram — a recital that brought to the stage classical dance forms of India including Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri and Kathakali, to pay a tribute to Nari Shakti (woman power).
