DHARAMSALA : Australia skipper Steve Smith has expressed his disappointment with the BCCI for uploading a video which featured an intense sledging battle between Ravindra Jadeja and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.

In the post-match press conference, Smith said, “Little bit disappointed that the BCCI sieved through the archives to find a conversation that was happening on the field between Matthew Wade and Ravindra Jadeja. The fact that they have done it to us is disappointing.”

The incident between Wade and Jadeja happened on the second day when Jadeja was batting on 37 and India were close to wiping out the deficit.

In the video, Wade was needling Jadeja as to why he was selected in the Indian team.

In response, Jadeja said, “If you will start it…I will give it back to you.” At the end of the Day 2 press conference, Jadeja remarked in a very cheeky way that he had told Wade to come and have dinner with him after he lost.

Smith reasoned that sledging has taken place from both sides in the series. “What is said on the field should stay on the field. It has been a hard-fought series. The players are going to say things here and there and their emotions are going to be high as it should be in such a big series.

The India versus Australia series has seen plenty of heat off the field. Ishant Sharma’s ‘Monkeygate’ in the Bangalore Test was just the start but the DRS fiasco saw tensions reach fever pitch.

India captain Virat Kohli accused Smith of ‘crossing the line’ and the Indian cricket team lodged a complaint with the ICC but it was dismissed.
