29 CHILDREN RESCUED FROM NABI KARIM
NEWDELHI: A joint team of district administration officials and Delhi Police on Thursday morning rescued 29 children from a bag manufacturing unit in Nabi Karim area of central Delhi.
All the children — aged between 7 and 12 years — are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and were allegedly being forced to work as bonded labour in inhuman conditions.
Prashant Kumar, subdivisional magistrate, Karol Bagh, said that a raid in the area was conducted around 10am on Thursday following a tip off by an NGO. An FIR has also been registered against the employers, who are absconding.
The rescued kids were taken to Ambedkar Bhawan, and were given food and medical tests conducted on them.
