Metro’s Heritage Line gets rail safety approval
NEW DELHI: The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) has given approval for starting services on the ITO - Kashmere Gate section (Heritage line) of Delhi Metro.
The line is likely to be opened for public by weekend as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning to invite union ministers for the launch.
Janpath, Mandi House and ITO stations of Central SecretariatKashmere Gate corridor are already operational while the safety inspection for the remaining corridor was conducted on Monday and Tuesday.
The new heritage corridor will connect the Old Delhi areas like Daryaganj, Delhi Gate and Red Fort with the business hub of Delhi at Janpath.
The line was originally slated to open in December last year but got delayed due to several reasons.
