RAHBAR REPORTEDLY TOLD POLICE THAT THE ATTACK WAS A RESULT OF A QUARREL OVER ROAD SPACE

NEWDELHI: A 22-year-old motorcyclist was shot by an unidentified Royal Enfield rider in east Delhi’s Farsh Bazaar area on Monday night. The man was hit in his shoulder, but is out of danger, said police.

The injured man, Rahbar Khan, lives in Khureji with his parents who run a local business. It was around midnight that Khan was returning to his home after attending a birthday party when the attack happened.

As Khan was returning home, he decided to get his bike refueled. It was at this moment that he entered into an argument with an Enfield rider, following which the man allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot at him before riding away.

Khan was rushed to a hospital and is out of danger, police said. Based on his statement, a case of attempt to murder was registered at Farsh Bazaar police station.

A senior police officer quoted Rahbar as claiming that the attack was a result of a quarrel over road space after the two vehicles brushed past each other. However, there have been inconsistencies in his statement, said the officer, adding that is being questioned.
