BCCI meet may okay some Lodha reforms
NEW DELHI: With the Supreme Court giving leeway to state cricket associations by saying it could reassess the ‘One State One Vote’ rule, number of selectors and membership criteria, the BCCI officials are gearing up to resist majority of Lodha panel recommendations when they meet for a Special General Meeting here on Wednesday.
The Apex court had on Monday barred former bosses N Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah from attending the meeting and the two will stay away. The court had acted on the plea of Committee of Administrators that said the duo is obstructing the implementation of the recommendations.
However, it is unlikely their absence will have any positive effect. At best, the Board officials will accept what they had been willing to following their meeting on October 1 and that didn’t include the most controversial points like age and tenure cap and One State, One Vote rule.
The agenda of the meeting will be conflict of interest, Memorandum of Association — that contains rules like age and tenure cap — decision on ombudsman and disbursement of funds to states.
