Govt to cre­ate fund for bet­ter bud­get­ing: Siso­dia

Delhi gov­ern­ment will cre­ate a “Pol­icy Im­pact Fund” for bet­ter bud­get­ing and im­ple­men­ta­tion of its pro­grammes, deputy chief min­is­ter Man­ish Siso­dia an­nounced on Wed­nes­day. The fund, Siso­dia said, would start with an an­nual al­lo­ca­tion of Rs 5 crore.

“Delhi will be the first state to in­vest in the anal­y­sis of out­comes of gov­ern­ment poli­cies. This is to gen­er­ate high­est bar of ev­i­dence on how well poli­cies are func­tion­ing and how can they be made more ef­fec­tive,” said a press state­ment quot­ing the deputy CM dur­ing a lec­ture se­ries on “Ev­i­dence based pol­i­cy­mak­ing, mon­i­tor­ing and eval­u­a­tion” at Delhi sec­re­tar­iat.

Em­i­nent econ­o­mists Prof Ab­hi­jit Ban­er­jee of depart­ment of eco­nom­ics and co-founder, J-Pal, Mas­sachusetts In­sti­tute of Tech­nol­ogy (MIT), USA , along with Prof Es­ther Du­flo of depart­ment of eco­nom­ics and co-founder, J-Pal, MIT de­liv­ered their key note lec­tures at the event.
