Bus overturns in Alipur, 7 injured

Seven people were injured when a private bus overturned in outer Delhi’s Alipur on Wednesday morning.

Six passengers were released after first-aid but one of them had to be admitted to hospital with serious wounds, said police.

The bus was heading from Amritsar to Patel Nagar in central Delhi. According to Rishi Pal, DCP (Rohini), the accident occurred around 6 am when the bus was passing through Bakhtawarp­ur in Alipur.

An eyewitness told news channels that a motorcycle suddenly appearing in front of the bus because of which the driver lost control . But the DCP said that the accident happened because the driver failed to negotiate a sharp turn on the road. “The bus overturned across the divider, blocking a portion on both carriagewa­ys of the road,” said the DCP.

There were around 50 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident and most of them were sleeping. While most of them got out through the windows and the broken windshield in front, others were pulled out by locals.
