EDMC’s financial crunch
East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) requires ͈170 crores every month and ͈2,040 per annum for paying staff salaries (Group A,B, C and D) and pension of retired employees In comparison, ͈1,370 crores is the amount collected per annum from internal revenue, such as toll tax, transfer duty and electricity fees EDMC demands the difference of ͈670 crore from the Delhi government. As per officials, the govt will incorporate it in their revised budget estimate this year The agency is running under the deficit of over ͈2,000 cr As per Delhi Third Finance commission recommendation, out of ͈570 crores, EDMC has already received ͈427 crores in three quarters as grant in aid from Delhi government The rest ͈143 crore (fourth installment) has been demanded by EDMC in advance to pay the salaries
