On August 24, 2016, a 40-yearold farmer and his wife were thrashed to death and their two nieces were raped by four men in Dingerheri village of Mewat The accused allegedly locked other family members in a room while committing the crime and then fled with cash, jewellery and a two-wheeler

Three days after the incident, the the Mewat police had arrested four local youths In September, four gangsters arrested in some other case confessed to their role in the murders and rapes

The CBI was handed over the investigation in December 2016 In its chargesheet before a Panchkula court, the CBI has said that the gangsters were actually involved in the case
