DU acting principal booked for ‘harassing’ teacher
NEWDELHI: A Delhi University college’s acting principal has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a former guest teacher. Police filed the case on Saturday after the woman submitted a complaint against the official on Friday. DCP (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta confirmed that a case under sections 354 (A) and 509 has been registered at the Alipur police station.
The teacher, in a social media post, had accused the principal of asking her inappropriate questions and threatened to commit suicide. College officials said the woman had complained to the Delhi Commission for Women in December last year and then to the college’s internal complaints committee.
The woman could not be reached for a comment on the matter. The college’s acting principal denied the allegations.
Denying the allegation he wrote to V-C Yogesh Tyagi that the complainant teacher who earlier worked as an an ad-hoc teacher and later as a guest teacher, was not re employed due to absence of workload in the concerned department.
