Five wild elephants killed by speeding train in Assam

GUWAHATI: Five wild elephants were killed and another injured when a passenger train hit a herd crossing the tracks in Hojai district of central Assam on Saturday. The accident took place at around 9.30pm near Habaipur railway station when the Guwahati-Silchar passenger train hit the herd. The engine of the train got disconnected from the bogies as a result of the impact, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
