‘Amba, Liberty were go-to places’

-

Taking about his college days, Jatin Narwal, IPS officer, who is currently deployed as DCP, (North), Delhi, says, “Those were the days of my life. I am from Haryana and getting into DU was itself an achievement for me. I remember the day I got admission in Hans Raj College, my mother stopped the car near Bhadurgarh border and asked the driver to buy sweets. Ladke ka DU main admission ho gya tha, mithai toh banti thi,” says the good-looking cop.

He tells us that the craze of Delhi University was much more during his days. “That time, neither the culture of going abroad existed nor to any private universities. So, DU used to be the dream,” says Narwal. He says that in a way he drew inspiration from DU to aspire for the prestigious administrative services. “The day I entered DU, I decided to go for USPC. When other students would hangout, I preferred to sit in the library and study,” says the cop. Narwal, through his dedication, not only topped the college but was also among the University toppers. However, he wasn’t the no-funonly-books guy; he was up-todate with the latest flicks too. “Amba and Liberty theatres were my go-to places. I used to watch films on weekends with my friends aur third year main Satyam khul gaya tha, to bas bike pe vaha chale jate the,” says Narwal, who is now custodian of law and order in the DU’s north campus area and his wife, Anamika is a civil servant posted as Divisional Forest Officer.
