Here’s a reason to look forward to Fridays now — KR Mangalam University presents Hindustan Times DLF Cyber Hub Friday Jam powered by Career Launcher. Today, three bands are ready to win you over with a great display of bravura in their quest to be the best band of Friday Jam.

The fusion rock band Dor is set roll out a fusion of folk and sufi music. Formed in 2012, the band also weaves Hindustani vocals with western elements of jazz, blues and rock. “The name Dor signifies the thread of music that binds the world together. Our band has mainly corporates and we meet after office hours to jam. We are also going to perform our original composition, Yaar,” says vocalist Manish Chauhan, a banker by profession.

The common love for creating music brought the six-member band Mazhab together. The members work in a Gurgaon-based company, Concentrix. Himanshu Sharma, vocalist, from Mazhab, says, “We initially started with unplugged sessions in the cafeteria. Our musical influences are rock metal and try to infuse with other genres to create unmatched sound.”

The band Unplugged is all set to rock the stage with acoustic versions of songs such as Shape Of You and that of ’80s Bollywood numbers. “We don’t use electric guitar, which is our USP. We perform a mix of Sufi, Hindi retro, Bollywood covers and English retro, pop and contemporary music,” says Manish Gunthey, singer, songwriter and guitarist.
