Television heartthrob Dheeraj Dhoopar’s fans aren’t limited to India — thanks to the popularity of Indian TV shows abroad, the actor has a good fan following in South Africa as well. On his last visit to Durban and Johannesburg, he interacted with his fans, and shares that the love he received is overwhelming.

“I know about my fans abroad and interact with them via social media. So, this time when I got the opportunity to visit South Africa to perform, I made the most of it. It was amazing to see the kind of love they have for me. I was completely touched by the way they met me. Some even hugged me and kissed me out of their sheer love for me. I mainly got compliments for my dimples, my hairdo and also got my sense of style,” says Dheeraj, known for his shows such as Behenein, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Sasural Simar Ka.

That wasn’t all — Dheeraj also met a special fan, 12-yearold Kiara, who is suffering from a rare blood disorder, yet when she came to know about the opportunity to meet Dheeraj in Johannesburg. She had made a scrapbook and written a poem for the actor, and also gifted him chocolate.

“It was a very emotional meeting with Kiara as we both knew what was in store. Despite whatever she was going through, the thing that amazed me is that she made a greeting card with a poem penned specially for me. Kiara not only wrote it, she even recited it for me. I couldn’t believe what I was going through. The moment she met me, she was in tears,” adds the actor, who is also working on two short films that are expected to release soon.
